ASN Allies Strategy Meetings 2022

17 June 2022 | Events

During June and July, we're holding strategy meetings with the leaders of ten of the African NGOs and working groups that have partnered with us over the past 8 years, and with the autistic people who inspire their them.

This page is for meeting participants who have been invited via WhatsApp.

MEETING 1: Saturday 18 June, 10:00-13:00.

Please sign in from 09:45 onwards using the link provided by Petra, so that we can begin promptly at 10:00.

Before Saturday: Please fill in the form at the bottom of this page. This is so that we can easily share these details with other participants in the meeting.

MEETING 2: To be finalised

The purpose of the meetings is to take our collective work forward by

  • establishing common goals,
  • identifying projects which we can work on together to achieve our respective and collective goals,
  • appointing task teams for these joint projects, and
  • deciding how to work together going forward.

For participants with communication and regulation difficulties

At the start of the meeting, we will ask you to introduce yourself in your own words, and to share some of your dreams and goals. You may want to get down some thoughts on this before the meeting, if you are able to get time with your CRP on Friday (don’t worry if you can’t). We do not know how long this part of the meeting will take; we want to be sure to listen to you. We will begin with the youngest person and end with the oldest.

Throughout this meeting, and during the next one, we will ask for your ideas and opinions. If you need more time to think or to express yourself than a meeting allows, or if you become too dysregulated or too tired to continue, this is fine; you will be able to send in more of your thoughts before the next meeting.

What to expect

Tania will open the meeting, together with Petra. We will all jointly decide on the break times and any other ‘rules’. We do not know how much of the agenda we will be able to cover in Meeting 1. This will depend largely on how much time the AAC users need. We will learn as we go.
